[comp.sys.ibm.pc] TRS-80ModIII to IBM-PC Disk Translator

ted@banyan.UUCP (Ted Bailey) (08/21/87)

I am looking for the name of the company that released a program that allows
a user to convert TRS80 Model III 5-1/2 inch to DOS format all on the PC.
I never thought I'd need the program when I saw it advertised several
months ago, but the need did arise. If anyone in netland recalls the name
of where I could get hold of this program, it would be appreciated.

Thanx,

There are a couple for programs for the TRS-80 than read, write and format
MSDOS disks. If your TRS-80 drive is single sided, then it could only
read, write or format single sided MSDOS disks. MSDOS allows you to
format single sided disks. The names of a couple of programs are:
"Hypercross XT" and "Supercross". I believe they are written by Powersoft.
If you look in any old "80 Micro" magazine, you should see their
advertisement. If you need any assistance, feel free to send me e-mail
at choset@eniac.seas.upenn.edu.ARPA. I believe our UUCP site is a machine
called super, so if you can't get to ARPA try choset%eniac@super.UUCP .

Please note that I am not a representative of Powersoft and am no way
affiliated with Powersoft.

I'd appreciate any information on this as well. (Sorry about posting
this me-too message. My mail to UUCP is not reliable)

Sounds like what you are looking for is TRSCROSS from PowerSoft.
Sorry, I don't have an address handy, but they still advertise in
80 Micro.

There is a writeup in the August or September issue of the "Computer Shopper"
about a product called Media Master that would probably do what you are
looking for. I have had no experience with the product, although I wish I
had the program around on more than one occasion.

No it wont - the requester wanted to read TRS-80 type DOS. The Aug 87
issue of Computer SHopper, page 219 has a review of Media Master and it
is specifically described as a CP/M to MS-DOS transfer program. There
are 8 TRS-80 CP/M formats listed but these will do you no good at all
if you want to read TRS-DOS, LDOS, DOS-PLUS, NEWDOS etc. To read these
you need Hypercross or PC Cross-Zap from Hypersoft or TRS-CROSS from
Powersoft. Check 80 Micro for sources.
