Hello. I'm kinda new to the DOS world and I am looking for an accounting package for a friend of mine's bussiness. He needs somthing where he can enter his company's accounts information (name, address, account #, phone(s), comments, (and price list to use)). Then, when he gets a call from an account he can bring up this information and begin to take orders over the phone for his products (many different kinds of hair clips) and this software will generate an invoice for this order as well as store the order/invoice in a database and update his inventory (as well as do the other common accounting functions: accounts payable, general ledger, inventory control, payroll(?), etc...). The catch is that different accounts have different price lists that he would want to use. For example, Mary's beauty supply store calls in with an order for 10 PX1s, 20 PX2s, 30 PX3, ... Mary's Supply is a retail outlit, so they get the prices for the PXs from price list 2. Bill is a distributor, when he calls in an order, the prices come from price list 4. The idea is that there are various price lists. The different accounts use different price lists, but the codes for the clips are consistant across price lists (PX1, PX2, PX3,...). Another thing is that, hopefully, the price list that each account uses will be stored in some sort of master file/database and the person taking the order will not have to know what price list a particular account uses (the correct list will automaticaly be used). I have read about MANY accounting packages for DOS, and, quite frankly, they all look to be pretty good. But, I havent found any of the lower priced ($100 -> $400) ones that will handle the multiple price lists with the amount of automation that is needed (user must not have to be aware of what price list to use when taking an order). Is there anyone out there who can give me some pointers on this. Any experiences/opinions that you may wish to share on this are welcome.
