Does anyone out there have or have recommendations for a public domain or shareware utility that performs a low-level physical format on a hard disk ? Before you all jump up and say YES, let me expound...I am looking for something that will format all of the standard IBM supported hard-disks PLUS a whole host of drives not currently supported by IBM. Many of the IBM AT clones support extensive tables of hard disks and thats what I want to be able to do. I need to be able to tell the program the number of cylinders, the number of heads, and the interleave and have it go off and perform a complete low-level format of the entire disk. I am currently familiar with a PD/shareware product called HDDIAG which works well, but appears to read the hardware information from the controller or the IBM AT setup information. That, of course, eliminates the use of non-IBM supported hard disks. Any light that anyone can shed on my problem will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. -- Frederick F.
