My neighbour has a Compaq Portable with Rev B (I believe) ROM BIOS. He has installed a 384K Multifunction card, but can only access 544K. He knows that his ROM BIOS is old and a newer version can enable him to access the full 640K (he has 256K on the motherboard). Where can he get the ROM BIOS for less than $150 Canadian dollars? He has already gone to Computerland and that was the price that they quoted last Oct. (disclaimer, he only wants to spend as little as possible and that price seems a little expensive) Perhaps someone can send me the address for Compaq Computer Corp. in Houston, Texas. I heard that they sell Rom upgrades. Can anyone confirm or deny this? If not, can he get an IBM PC ROM upgrade? It only costs $33 US or so. (source-PC World, Aug, 1987). Thank you in advance. P.S. Standard disclaimers apply.
