[net.music] Steve Hackett, Peter Gabriel, and Poplar Creek

brandx@ihuxa.UUCP (Howard D. Weisberg) (04/20/84)

Sorry about the way my last article ended up. The punctuation and
spacing seems to have been eaten up the machine!

A correction: I meant to say that Peter Gabriel feels that lyrics
are NOT as important to him as they once were. He feels that it's
more important that the music convey the meaning.

By the way, I think it sucks that Poplar Creek is selling tickets in
series this summer (again). That means that in order to get good tix
for King Crimson, you'd have to get tix for Rick Springfield, 38 Special,
and Huey Lewis and the News. How can they lump King Crimson along
with that crap (An opinion; no flames please)? Or in order to see Joe
Jackson, I'd have to buy tix for the GoGos. It looks like I'll be getting
tix (at least for Crimson) at the gate from some teenyboppers who don't
know Bill Bruford from Beethoven.

By the way, I would urge people to go see Miles Davis at the Mill Run
on June 3. Tickets are kind of expensive, but well worth it. Miles
will have a new band, not to mention that Mill Run is a hell of a place
to see a concert. It's "in-the-round" where every seat has equally good sound
and view (they have a great sound system).

About bassists; is it really necessary to repeat this discussion again.
