I am having a problem with WP that doesn't seem to be documented too well so I thought someone out there might have an answer. I am trying to take a standard ASCII file and "force-fit" it into the WP parallel-column format. The file has five character fields of the specified widths: 1, 6, 82, 8, 8 (respectively). The fields are tab-separated and end with a Hard Return ([HRt]). To avoid any misinterpretation the format looks like the following: C<TAB>CCCCCC<TAB>C ...<TAB>CCCCCCCC<TAB>CCCCCCCC C = a character I understand how parallel-format columns are set up and used and even have examined the hidden codes (<ALT><F3>). The hidden codes for parallel columns are: [Block Pro: On][Col on]C[HPg]CCCCCC[HPg]C (continued on next line) ...[HPg]CCCCCCCC[HPg]CCCCCCCC[Block Pro: Off][Col off][HRt] Through search-and-replace each <TAB> is replaced by a [HPg] so that part is ok, however, I can find no way to insert the [Block Prot: X] and [Col: X] codes. Perhaps these matter but then again I can't find anything that says yes or no. After I have replaced the <TAB> characters, I set-up the columns and enable them. WP takes the first line and formats it fine but then strips out all [HPg] codes on the following lines and scrunches the text into the last column, thinking that it is one continuous string. If someone has a solution I would sure appreciate hearing about it so as to avoid manually re-entering the text myself. PLEASE reply by E-MAIL, don't post a follow-up. I will summarize if there is sufficient interest. Dan Gold Lockheed Missiles & Space Company, Inc.
