I need to write a program for the PC-AT that will require about 100K bytes of code, but probably about 2M bytes of data to be sent to a peripheral device. The 2M of data must be in RAM, not on disk, due to speed considerations. Could someone tell me: 1) Why is the normal limit of RAM 640K? 2) What is extended vs. expanded memory? 3) Which RAM board manufacturers are established and reliable? 4) What are the programming considerations involved in bypassing the 640K "ceiling"? 5) Where can I find out more about this subject? Good books for hardware and software on the PC-AT would be appreciated. Thanks, Phil Schrupp
