[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Multi-user games on IBM PCs?

allanon@ucrmath.UUCP (Kenneth Leung) (10/03/87)

I am looking for games that can be played between 2 PCs connected via
nul modem cables thru the serial ports. Any pointers to such games
would be appreciated.

Thanx

There's a small(?) company named gemini which has released 2
such programs. The first lets 2 people play a game of war and
battleship with character oriented graphix. The second program
of theirs is a 2 player Battlezone which is pretty hot. The graphix
are good and the response isn't bad either. They are both public
domain so look around bbs's, and if you can't find them, contact me.

I remember seeing a 2 player chess game played over phone lines and I
might have a copy of that buried away, also.

Sierra ("King's Quest", "Liesure Suit Larry", etc) is marketing a Helicopter
Simulator that they claim will let two players dogfight via modems.

On some of the local BBS's you can pickup these gems:

TREK24 (at least that's the way it was posted on my box)
-	multi-user graphics startrek program. A bit different than the regular
trek games since you will control many crafts rather than just one
	craft.

TRADEWAR
-	A space game that allows for many users to dominate the universe. You
have a cargo ship with fighters and you trade between planets for
points and you can by fighters (to kill off the compitition) and
planets (to stash your booty (sp?)). Users get general point values
and are limited to the number of moves in order to keep someone from
playing for 80 hours and get everything.

Standard text game. BBS type support.

I'll see if I can encode these soon and post them in comp.binaries.ibm.pc.
