I talked to technical support at Design Systems. It appears that DS-RECOVER for some reason was designed to run with COMMAND.COM as the one and only command interpreter. Functionally, it looked like a natural to run under the MKS Korn Shell. Everyone at one time has accidentally deleted a critical file and then scrambled for their copy of Norton utilities. DS-RECOVER would ostensibly ease the recovery process by intercepting the delete function call and rename the file to some hidden name which can be tracked for later mass delete. However, this is the first program I have encountered that failed altogether to run under the shell. If the Korn shell has been loaded at all, DSR.EXE hangs the system. Even if a second copy of COMMAND.COM has been loaded under the shell, DSR.EXE hangs. Futhermore, the explanation and rationale I received from Design Systems was a lot of boloney. There is a major design flaw in DS-RECOVER and Design Systems is unwilling to repair the flaw since it impacts only a small number of customers. On the basis of their customer support this product is NOT RECOMMENDED. == Larry Johnson == cuae2!ihnp4!laj == (312)-810-6212
