Having seed several discussions about how to determine where the video memory is address in PC compatible machines I thought that I would add my 2 cents. Output to stdout (using dos calls or a higher level language) an identifiable string. Then search for it at B000:0000 for monochrome or B800:0000 for CGA compatible color. Not only will this give you the address of the video memory it will give you the currently active monitor in dual monitor systems.
