[comp.sys.ibm.pc] software that print Chinese characters

I would like to know what software and maybe associated hardware
that would enable me to print Chinese characters. The computers
I have accessed to are ibm pc, apple IIc and Mactinosh (SE I think).
It would be best if a database is available to store the characters.
Appreciate any info.
