[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Need Imagen Driver for MS/DOS or MS Windows

joel@peora.ccur.com (Joel Upchurch) (11/05/87)

We just got a Imagen Imageserver for our unix system. Imagen supplies
a troff to imPRESS translator, which is fine for Unix, but I would to
be able to upload graphics and text created with WYSIWYG packages on
our PC and print them on the Imagen. Is there a wordprocessing package
for the PC that supports imPRESS. Also is there a imPRESS driver available
for MS Windows, so we could use Windows Write and Draw?

Failing that is there a Postscript or Laserjet to imPRESS or troff
translator available.

Thanks for your assistance

Hi,

I have an Imagen printer driver that handles text and bitmaps. Unfortunately
it is in Lisp. BUT I have rewritten the text part in TurboC. And might also
convert the bitmaps portion given time. The catch ? It uses the ethernet
to talk to the printer. However the program is quite selfexplanatory and
I can add in the notes to convert it to use a serial line (you have to quote
certain charaters). If you want it let me know.

Elan Computer Group sells a TROFF, et. al. package for MS-DOS
with support for the Imagen line of laser printers as well as
the HP LaserJet and Postscript printers.

The package, EROFF, includes TROFF, NROFF, PIC, EQN, TBL, GRAP, and
a rough draft screen previwer called EVIEW, and other goodies,
all running (quite well and quickly) under MS-DOS.

It's all derived from AT&T DWB 2.0 release -- that is, it's the real thing,
not a re-write.

This package is essentially identical to our EROFF versions on UNIX.
