About a year ago I got off the net binaries for "pushd" and "popd" for the IBM PC. They were v2.10 dated 2/8/86 and were posted by Michael Tsang (gumby!g-tsang). I have used them routinely ever since. They are wonderful! However, I just recently converted to PC DOS 3.3, and something seems to have broken. First, the DIRSTACK environmental variable does not appear in the environment (with a "set"). Secondly, I am able to pushd ... pushd and then popd ... popd if I DON'T run certain programs in between. Apparently, the mechanism for putting the directory stack into the environment no longer fully works in PC DOS 3.3. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Are updated versions available? Are the sources available? Any help that anyone could give would be greatly appreciated. None of the machines in .washington.edu seem to be able to deliver to the original author.
