[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Recommendations for large-capacity drive for Compaq 286 Portable

Can anyone recomment a good (cheap) 70+MB hard disk for my
Compaq 286 Portable (the original, not the Compaq Portable II).
Presumably the gating items are the size (looks like a half-height in
an almost full-height bay) and BIOS support.

[email to me; I'll forward it]

Electronics Magizine (Oct. 15, '87 pp. 152) caries a half column
announcement from Control Data Corp., (612) 853-3600, about their
new Swift line of 3.5" drives. They are available in ST506, SCSI
and ESDI interface with storage capacitys of 55, 100, 150, and
200 megabytes. Evaluation units will be available first quarter
of 1988. Pricing in quanity is to be from $5 to $8 per megabyte.

You can burn an entry in the BIOS drive parameter table to
support nearly any drive.

Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with CDC nor any other drive
	     manufacturer.
