In fact you can get a good bare-bones clone that will solve your dilemma from:

			Sunset Computer Wholesale
			14215 N.W. Science Park Drive
			Portland, Oregon 97229
			(503)644-9676

Their XT-1 model is a minimum configuration for $249 with:
150 watt UL approved power supply
256K 4.77/8 Mhz motherboard socketed for up to 640K
	metal slide case (meets FCC)

You could use your old keyboard, floppy disk, and controller etc.
in order to complete the system. They also have hard disks and controllers
pretty cheap. It might be more to the point to just get a fully
configured clone. It would probably be cheaper and less hassle.

I have been using one of their systems for several months now
and have found it to run all of the programs that I used to run
on my old IBM PC (one like yours which I gave to my son). It also
runs them a lot faster in the 8 Mhz mode.

They have all kinds of other clones and configurations such as
their XT-3 model for $599 complete and ready to run and it includes
a monitor, Hercules graphics, and clock-timer as well as serial and
parallel ports.

AT clones complete for $949.00
