[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Help with MS Windows

randy@umn-cs.cs.umn.edu (Randy Orrison) (11/24/87)

We are working on a large project using Microsoft Windows. We have been having
some strange problems, and I'm hoping the net can help.

Some stats:
Source: 23k lines Executable: 174k (including resources)
Stack: 16k	Heap: 16k (from .def file)
    MS-DOS 3.2x MSC 4.00	Windows 1.03/4
We're using the Compact memory model, but all routines are
declared with the FAR keyword (Windows made us do it)

- Our application has a habit of hanging occasionally, and
unreasonably. We have traced this to a couple things: DOS 3.1,
and various TSRs (Datapath, superspool, CED, etc). It does not
take any particular combination of these to hang it, different
combinations will hang it at different times, on different
    machines. What's going on?

- How do we change the Stack and/or Heap size? Any change to the
constants in the .def file results in windows telling us that it
doesn't have enought memory to load our application.

Any and all help will be appreciated!

	Please send e-mail to randy@ux.acss.umn.edu (or umn-cs!randy)

	Thanks in advance!
