I hereby open the votes for the new moderator of the comp.binaries.ibm.pc
group.
I made postings in the past regarding the moderation of this group and have
offered my assistance as the moderator. I now make it official.
1) I have about 20 megs of progs and have access to well over 200 meg of
P.D. code for the IBM-PC/MS-DOS machines.
2) I verify all the software before I post it as not to cause problems
with copyrights and to mask for problems or bugs. If the software
does not have clear permission to be a public domain software
(other than shareware and the like) then it shall not be posted.
The author of the software will be contacted prior to posting in
order to verify the author and to notify the author of the intent
to post to usenet. Software recieved via e-mail, written by the
sender, will be posted with little or no hastle but will be verified
none the less.
3) All letters recieved will be edited and posted in a news letter
to the group. This will cut down on a multitude of requests for
software or software related questions.
4) Efforts will be made to find software available for postings and all
items found will be made part of the news letter. BBS listings will
be part of the postings from time to time as to support the sites
from which the software comes from and to educate those who do not
have access to a local BBS. A full listing of available software will
also be posted from time to time.
5) ARCing may or may not be performed on certain copies of the software
in order to allow users to deal with the data transfer as they wish.
From time to time, I will post a version of ARC suitable for the net
purposes.
6) If the software requires a certain version of a utility in order to
operate, then I will post the utility as well else the software will
not be posted. ( such is the case of 'snatched' disks).
I have several votes all ready but I have not heard from various parts
of the net and I do not wish to offend anyone by making myself moderator
by default.
Any one wishing to cast votes, please do so by sending your votes and
