PC Tools lists for My friend Tom Reingold (tr@bellcore.com) told me a funny way to remember the difference: Expanded sounds like "fat", therefore expanding sideways (ie. bank switching, ie. EMS) Extended sounds "long and thin", therefore expanding lengthwise (ie. linear, ie. higher address, ie. 286 protected mode). /-^-\ Thomas M.
