[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Extracting ARC files off of the net

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to successfully transfer files
from SIMTEL20 (FTP) to VMS to PC (using Kermit)?  I manage to get files
from SIMTEL20 to my VMS directory using FTP and filetype /image, but
I get nothing but garbage after downloading using Kermit, even after
SET FILE TYPE BINARY and SET PARITY SPACE (with ProComm set to S71).
