OK, time to wake up a sleepy newsgroup! comp.sys.laptops! Lets start with: My laptop: I have a NEC multispeed. Great Machine, faster, more powerful, and cheaper than many clones. -640k, 2-720k disks, built in software, RGB, Serial, Parallel, battery backed up ram disk (128k) and more! My gripes are: 1)No availible com 2 board, only internal modem. 2)They want $500.00 to change the dislpay to a backlit, and won't sell me one to do myself! 3)The external disk connector goes the wrong direction. it can be used to make the NEC into external drives for another computer. Solutions: 1) I'm Designing an internal Com 2 board that goes in place of the internal modem. Anyone else intrested? I could manufacture a P.C. board which would cost $100-150 each. -Does anyone want one for other laptops? 2) ???? for now I'm going unlit. 3) Programs like laplink and Brooklyn Bridge work great. With B.B. I can connect any standard PC with serial ports as extra drives. It's nice seeing the 30meg drive F appear when I connect to The AT at work. -Does anyone know if the disk controller for 3 1/2 inch. drives can be used to run a 5 1/4 as well? Please Post responses to comp.sys.laptops or mail direct.
