[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Once again; Adaptec 2070 & ST-238

wtm@neoucom.UUCP (Bill Mayhew) (12/07/87)

1. Some of the early model 2070 controllers from Adaptec did not
work correctly with the ST-238. There was a bug-fix. Call Adaptec
for details. Look in a Thomas' Index to get their number. If you
bought a controller since March of '87 there is a good chance you
have a good one.

2. ST-238s freak out if you mount them with screws that are too
long and you thighten the screws like a gorilla. The mounting
screws should only be tight enough to keep the drive in place. Use
of a lock washer is recommended so that you don't have to torque
too tightly to prevent loosening over time.

I hate to play favorites, but the SMS OMTI-5527 RLL controller
seems to be a particularly good match to the ST-238.
