I have a question about Microsoft Word 4.0's style bar. In outline mode, there is a "b" in the style bar area instead of my defined name key code. In regular mode, I have the same "b" and in addition a "^" preceding my text. I first noticed this when I tried to print out a report that was typed in outline mode. Some of the text was missing. I must admit, I was "playing" with the outline mode when I first noticed it. Any help would be appreciated.

A question was posted about the letter 'b' in the style bar area of MS Word 4.0. The 'b' is your symbol for a running head formatted to appear at the 'b'ottom of the page. (Personally, I prefer the term 'footer', but obviously MS doesn't.) A list of style bar symbols is in the Word 4.0 companion Reference Manual - pg 84.

It's to signify a bottom running-head. (A running-head at the top of the document would have a t ^ in the style bar area.). Delete it to get rid of it, of course. -- Steve Arrants ...!uw-beaver!microsoft!stephena UserEd/APPS Microsoft Corp. Opinions posted are mine, not my employer's. So there. SAVE THE BLIBBET!
