Where does the expression "FLAME" come from ?

I am sure I am wrong but I always associated it with the Fantastic Four's character who was known to say "flame on!" \n -- "I am the Lorvax. I always thought it was from the MARVEL COMICS character called The Human Torch, who was one of the Fantastic Four. He could ignite himself at will by yelling FLAME ON!, which he usually did just before trashing the bad guys. One of his partners was called the Thing, who was about 7 foot tall and made of stone. Just before venting his wrath on the evildoers he would holler ITS CLOBBERIN TIME! - (where have all the great comic book writers gone to?)
