Greetings, I need help installing a 730k 3.5" DS/DD drive in an IBM-AT. I purchased an IBM 3.5" drive for installation in an IBM-AT. After completing the hardware and software installation and running Setup I ended up with a disk drive that will read from and write to a 3.5" floppy but will not format the disks. I get a Track 0 unreadable - disk unusable error. Luckily I am able to format the disks on a Toshiba T1000 and then use them in the IBM-AT. Any ideas? BTW I got two responses to my last request for assistance in getting a DS/DD drive operating in another AT and with these I was able to get the drive working. I don't know if your drive is the same as mine, but the solution was a jumper found on the drive.... marked XE/PE. Also ... Make sure you are setting the drive up for a 1.44M or 720k as needed in the "setup" program. Good Luck, Dr Phelps. Alex P.
