[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Should I post the Kermit docs?

tr@wind.bellcore.com (tom reingold) (12/31/87)

Ok, several people have asked for the document file for Kermit,
for which I just posted the binaries. If I get a few more letters
in my mailbox saying yes, I will post it in seven parts. The file
is 231958 bytes long, which is why I am hesitating to post it.

Let me point out that if you can ftp, you should. The file is on
cu20b.columbia.edu. It's called "mst29c.doc". If you have a copy
of the Scribe formatter, you would be better off getting the file
called "mst29c.mss" so that it formats for your printer. The doc
file assumes a tty or dumb printer.

I have split the doc file using the command "split -700 mst29c.doc"
and the result is seven files. Looking at the directory listing,
I get:

-rw-rw-r-- 1 tr 34957 Dec 30 16:39 xaa
-rw-rw-r-- 1 tr 33057 Dec 30 16:39 xab
-rw-rw-r-- 1 tr 33355 Dec 30 16:39 xac
-rw-rw-r-- 1 tr 33583 Dec 30 16:39 xad
-rw-rw-r-- 1 tr 32509 Dec 30 16:39 xae
-rw-rw-r-- 1 tr 38068 Dec 30 16:39 xaf
-rw-rw-r-- 1 tr 26429 Dec 30 16:39 xag

These should make it over the net, one at a time since no file is
larger than 40,000 bytes long.

Again, if you want the doc and can't ftp, send me mail to cast a
"vote". A large number of votes will prompt me to post.

Please note that you should not send mail to where this article
came from. Yes, it came from the machine "wind" but don't send it
there. In other words, don't send it there. IN OTHER WORDS, DON'T
SEND IT THERE. (Got the message?) Your mail is likely to bounce!
