[comp.sys.ibm.pc] 3rd Floppy VS. Irwin Tape

****** NOP line for Mail-Compactors *****

We have a large number of PC-AT compatibles that came
with a 1.2 Meg diskette drive and an Irwin 20 Meg tape
backup where diskette drive 'B' should be. The Irwin tape units
look like a floppy disk drive to the PC's disk controller.
We wish to be able to use 360K drives (i.e. have two floppies + tape) on
the machine. Since the disk controller is a fixed disk, floppy
disk combination unit, and supports only two of each, what can be
done.

If our controller supports drives 'A' and 'B' as floppies, and
drives 'C' and 'D' as fixed disks, I suppose I need a second
controller that can have a floppy disk as 'E'.

Is there such a controller that can co-exist with another disk
controller on one machine.

Does anyone have any creative ideas?
