[comp.sys.ibm.pc] File formats needed

dj@homxc.UUCP (A.BALMA) (01/07/88)

I know that there exists a book that details the
file formats for common commercial software,
such as 1-2-3 and dBaseIII+.

What is the name of this book, author's name,
or its isbn number?

Also, does anyone know of any c-tools to create or
modify files for use by 1-2-3 or dBaseIII+?
I read something about a c library to manipulate
WKS files. I am interested in other packages to do
this type of thing.

CAVEAT EMPTOR -- I've found some of the details (especially regarding
MultiMate in vol 1) to be slightly inaccurate. Also note that the info
in vol. 2 on WordPerfect applies only to version 4.1!

More File Formats has only seven chapters, and six of the chapters are
devoted to a particular program. Three of the six are Framework II, Word-
Perfect 4.1 (not the current 4.2), and Volkswriter. List price of both
books is $24.95. I'd say wait until "Still More File Formats" (if they ever
release such a thing) comes out.
