Hi, thanx to a couple of emails I have solved the "How to get more than four drive designations" problem. Now there is a couple of peculiar points. I put a batch file in a virtual drive. And the batch file contains a statement to dis-subst the same drive. I run the batch file, as soon as the SUBST /D had been executed, the virtual drive simply disappears into the thin air and the DOS can't find the batch file to continue!!! I mean, doesn't DOS load the whole batch file into the memory at the first place.... I use the Mace Park (parking HD heads) _every_time_ before I turn off the PC. Since I always have a virtual D drive in drive C whenever the PC is on, the Mace Park would park the C drive twice; it parks the C drive, and then park the C drive again when it attempts to park the non-existant D drive. It apparently thinks that the C drive IS the D drive just because it "finds" the D drive In the C drive. So I figured that, just for the sake of argument, I have 20 virtual drives installed whenever the PC is on. Mace is gonna take forever to park that C drive 20 times. Isn't that interesting? I'll have to reluctantly consider it a bug. Is there a fix? I use Mace Park whever I'm about to turn off the PC just to make sure the data on the hard disk is under the least amount of hazard. Am I paranoid? It doesn't happen in memory resident virtual drive, though. Mace Park is so smart to figure it out when there is nothing to park;-) Fai Lau SUNY at Buffalo (The Arctic Wonderland) UU: ..{rutgers,ames}!sunybcs!ugfailau BI: ugfailau@sunybcs INT: ugfailau@joey.cs.buffalo.EDU
