[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Dead ST251

ler@hpfclp.HP.COM (Larry Rupp) (02/06/88)

My Seagate ST251 just died after approximately 800 power-on hours, two months
out of warranty. (I'm sooo glad ST251s have a 20,000 hour MTBF.) It works
just great from a cold start, but only for five minute. Anyway, I'm
soliciting advice on repair vs. replace. The February issue of Computer
Shopper has the following ads for repair services:

Any comments on good or bad experiences? JB Technologies is already getting
bad press in the "Hi Tech Asset Recovery, A Warning" notestring.

I went through this problem last month. Using a list from the net,
I called all of them, got time/$$ estimates and settled on Peripherial Repair
Corp in Chatsworth. My drive was back to me in 7 days for the lowest price of
all the ones I called. I'll say I'm a happy customer of theirs.
