We have a number of Compaq Deskpros. They all have the enhanced (101-key) keyboard. I needed a new keyboard for my AT (Tatung TCS-7000 :-( ) and grabbed one of the spare Compaq keyboards. To function correctly on a machine that doesn't know about 101-key keyboards, you have to run KEYBDP.COM. I'd done this before without any problems. This time the computer started beeping at a high rate *and* the keyboard locked. After much trial and error, I determined the cause. KEYBDP doesn't like disk caching programs. Both SpeedCache and Compaq's CACHE.COM will trigger the effect. Both were using extended RAM. Can anyone suggest an explanation as to *why* this is happening? I'd really prefer to have the use of a cache program and I am *stuck* with this keyboard. -- Leonard Erickson ...!tektronix!reed!percival!bucket!leonard CIS: [70465,203] "I used to be a hacker.
