[comp.sys.ibm.pc] What is the status of CED?

dsnow@watdcsu.waterloo.edu (Doug Snow) (02/20/88)

While I'm at it ....

Does anyone ( or is C Dunford Listening ) know the latest version of
CED? I'm running 1.0C and am interested in any news on this great
tool. I haven't seen mention of it in about 2 years. Has it gone commercial?

Just as an aside, including the enhancements mentioned in the manual,
I would like to see two small additions - Word Delete and Automatic
insert ( Ie. I start with insert active ).

All I need for pure, unadultered joy is Qedit, Ced, a C compiler and
a postscript printer ..... well, you know what I mean.

History.arc, which I just posted to comp.binaries.ibm.pc (also
available from clutx.clarkson.edu via anon ftp, pub/history.arc), has
Word Delete on the ^W key. It also comes with Turbo C source and does
filename completion.

Re: Status of CED

As far as I can tell, the "last" version published was 1.0D (which works
quite fine in my machine).

It has, indeed, gone "commercial". It is now known as PCED (the "P"
stands for "Professional") which also works quite fine in my machine.

Pro-CED is available from Dunford --- for $35!! But, he says that a
new version will appear RSN.
