I am working with 30 PC XT and AT clones at a local High School and need
some information about tape drive backup systems. Since it is not real
practical for us to equip each machine with it's own tape drive we are
looking into buying one or two units which will plug into a parallel or
serial port, externally.
The objective is to be able to restore information to a hard disk without
having to load 20-30 floppies, so the tape drive must be software driven.
Speed is not critical but is of interest.
Has anyone had experience with an external tape drive used for this kind
of application? If so, I would like your evaluation of manufacturer,
price, baud rate and etc.
