A friend has asked me to post the following: ------------------------------------------------------------- Dear colleagues: As some of you may be aware, the state of science has gravely deteriorated in Argentina during the years of military rule. The 10-month old democratically elected government is trying to reverse that situation, with lots of good ideas, but not enough resources. See e.g. the article in the Sept. 20 issue of Nature Magazine for an 'objective' look. If you, someone you know, or the library of your institution, has or will have extra copies of professional journals, and is willing to donate them to Argentinian Universities or research centers, they could be sent directly to: Norah V. Cohan, Depto. Relaciones Internacionales, Secretaria de Ciencia y Tecnica, Cordoba 831, piso 7, 1054 Buenos Aires, ARGENTINA. This is a clearinghouse to determine the best place for the journals to be distributed. Of course I can be contacted for any further information via the net or at (212) 598 3413. Thanks for your efforts, Daniel B. Szyld (SZYLD.ACF1@NYU.ARPA or ihnp4!cmcl2!acf1!szyld) --------------------------------------------------------------- -- Alberto Mendelzon
