A firm called DATAWORLD in Pico Rivera, CA, advertises something they call the "DATA-286 12 MHz Portacomp" computer, a lunchbox AT clone, every month in PC Magazine. The advertisement specs it as follows: 0/1 wait state switchable 8/12 MHz hardware selectable speed Phoenix BIOS with setup software 512 K RAM (expandable to 1 MB on the motherboard) 1.2 MB TEAC floppy drive Hi-Res (600 x 200) LCD display Autoselect 110/220 V 180 Watt power supply Five slots, external RGB output. They're asking only $2,085 for the box configured with a 40 MB HD. This all sounds very good, especially since I'm looking for something I can use in Europe as well as here. Does anyone out there know anything about this firm (DATAWORLD) or this product? I've circled their number on the magazine's response card, but the literature hasn't come yet. I'd be very interested to hear if someone out there's had dealings with them.
