I am helping someone that I know with an XT compatible and I have run into a very strange problem. The system clock seems to gain several hours during the course of the day, and also, when the time changes from 23:59:59 to 00:00:00, the date freaks right out. It will change to something pretty strange like 2/3/2099 or even something along the lines of 9/25/=3 (yes, I did mean to type that '=' sign). Also, it is not the clockboard that is on the machine either...it reads it just fine on boot up and the date messes up at midnight even if you set it manually at boot time. Now, I have heard that in one of the versions of DOS the date rollover was a known bug, so I tried a couple different versions of DOS. The ones I have tried are IBM PC-DOS 3.1, MS-DOS 3.1, and MS-DOS 3.2, and none of them seem to help. Also, I don't see any name whatsoever on this computer, so I don't know what kind of compatible it is. (However, when it boots, there is a line that says International Business Systems). If anyone has any suggestions or ideas, I would really appreciate hearing from you. Also, please respond via e-mail since I am rather busy lately and don't have time to read news too much any more...thanks in advance!
