[comp.sys.ibm.pc] hi-res monochrome graphic displays

harriss@Alliant.COM (Martin Harriss) (03/12/88)

I'm looking for a high resolution monochrome graphics display for a pc.
Can anyone out there recommend anything? I'm looking for something
with about a 1000x800 resolution - monochrome only, I don't need color.
I'm looking for both the adaptor card and a companion monitor.
Is there anything available at a reasonable price? one system that I know
about is the Wyse system. It gives me the resolution that I want and is
reasonably priced, but is the display quality any good?

If there was nothing commercially available I would be prepared to
build the board, but I would still need a suitable monitor. Does anyone
know who makes monitors like this and what I could expect to pay for one?

Finally, are there any graphics boards out there (specifically with the
above mentioned resolution) that plug int a 16-bit AT slot? (gives you
faster access to graphics memory.)

I'm probably asking far too much, but of course it doesn't hurt to ask.
If anyone else is interested I'll forward/summarize.
Thanks, as always, in advance,

Martin Harriss

The new PRIORITY 1 catalog had a hi-res monitor-board combo
from Wyse for about $800.
