scb@philabs.UUCP (Sean Byrne) (11/20/84)
I noticed that "guest" had logged into philabs about 4:15 on Monday, Nov. 19, 1984. Our guest password was pretty easy to guess: "welcome", but I saw nothing wrong yet... Anyway, this "guest" was doing a "more /etc/passwd". write attempts failed to evoke any response, so i just killed him/her off, putting a "write scb" in the .login of ~guest. Anyway, the person logged in again and of course i got a message from guest, writing to guest caused him to logoff. So, the point of the whole thing is that guest's password for philabs has been changed. Anyone who used it for testing purposes just send me some mail and I'll either set up an account for you, or tell you what the new guest account is. Ps. If I ever find out who the person is, I'll kill him. -- USENET- .... Sean Byrne 4 years . /\ . CSRG, Philips Laboratories of anarchy . / \ . Briarcliff Manor, NY 10510 freedom . / \ .
