Anyone know of a card that'll let me use a standard AT drive as an external or some such (its on a compaq portable 286)? Twenty meg is *not* enough to do *anything* remotly useful :-) Actually its the machine I use at work and we have 3 30 meg AT drives sitting in a closet going to waste. miek

I'd expect most modern disk controllers to let you use the drives
externally. If the Compaq controller can accomodate two drives,
there's no reason you couldn't run a cable to the 30 megabyte drive
to use it externally. You'll have to run an external power cable
too. Basically, you'll have a separate control cable, and a
daisy-chained data cable between the internal and external
drives, and controller.
