[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Why not comp.sys.ibm.pc.news????

sam@ncsuvx.ncsu.edu (Sam "SammyBake" Moore) (03/23/88)

I like to read comp.sys.ibm.pc for technical information, but lately it
is full of opinions on law suits and pirating software. I don't condone
pirating, and I have an opinion about the BIG law suit, but I don't think
this is the place for it.

If this is the place for it, point me in the direction of a news group that
is about using the PC.

A new news group wouldn't be a bad idea. Comp.sys.ibm.pc gets so much
traffic that it makes access hard. My site uses the NOTES rather than
NEWS interface. The sequencer for notes keeps track of the last access
date and marks new msgs arriving at the site. If you have to exit out
of notes before reading all the new messages, you have your choice of
aborting or exitting normally. If you abort, the next time you enter
notes, all the msgs you already read are still marked new. If you
exit, the ones you haven't read are no longer marked. This group is
getting too much traffic to consistently read through without
interruption. (Sorry about the above description of something most
of you already know.) Do others out there feel the same way?
