I have an old Conographics model 40 graphics display adapter running in an IBM XT clone. This board supports the usual CGA modes but also has a mode for 640x400 at 16 colours from a palette of 256. This mode is used automatically by VersaCad and the Halo Graphics Library (appropriately configured) and works fine. Autocad (several versions, using DSCONO40.DRV), however, gives an error msg: "Fatal Error: Graphics Device Driver previous to 1" and aborts back to the DOS prompt. With the board I recieved the assembler source for a .SYS device driver for "DOS version 2.0". It assembles fine but crashes every system I've tried it on. Perhaps I'm not assembling it correctly (see below). I suspect this driver or one that Conographics made available after the purchase of this board is necessary to interface with the AutoCad driver. They have not answered my letters. Any ideas ? Please reply by mail. Thanks in advance. PS: Is this how you assemble a device driver: MASM driver.ASM -> produces "driver.OBJ" LINK driver.OBJ -> produces "driver.EXE" EXE2BIN driver.EXE -> produces "driver.BIN" ? Then you put DEVICE=driver.BIN in your CONFIG.SYS and reboot, right??? Thanks, again.
