This is a problem with ddir, which was recently posted to comp.binaries.ibm.pc -- I'm running DOS 2.11: Output of the regular dir command: Volume in drive D is HARD RAM Directory of D:\ BIN <DIR> 3-03-88 8:55a LIB <DIR> 3-03-88 8:56a AUTOEXEC BAT 159 3-26-88 9:47a CONFIG SYS 71 3-25-88 6:17p TMP <DIR> 3-03-88 9:06a SYS <DIR> 3-03-88 10:21a WORK <DIR> 3-04-88 3:42p 7 File(s) 184320 bytes free Output of ddir: Volume in drive D is HARD RA LIB <DIR> 3-03-88 8:56a SYS <DIR> 3-03-88 10:21a AUTOEXEC BAT 159 3-26-88 9:47a TMP <DIR> 3-03-88 9:06a BIN <DIR> 3-03-88 8:55a WORK <DIR> 3-04-88 3:42p CONFIG SYS 71 3-25-88 6:17p 7 Control characters removed to protect your terminals -- suffice it to say that the "Volume" header screwed up the first two lines of real directory listing output royally. Does this thing work correctly on later versions of DOS only? I was the one that posted that little program. I did not write it though, so I don't know how it works. I've run it under 3.2 and 3.1 with no problems, but I have never tried it on 2.X. -- A computer program does what you tell it to do, | Derrick Hamner not what you want it to do. | adonis@tahoe.unr.edu
