]:[ i just finished installing a couple homemade hardware reset switches to some 8088's. the process was very simple (as outlined fully on page 340, volume 5, number 15, (september 16, 1986) of pc magazine). i'll describe the process here in case you're curious. ever get tired of throwing the Big Red Switch everytime your computer crashes and ignores CTL-ALT-DEL? simply install a reset switch (like radio shack part #275-1547) to pins 9 and 11 of the 8284 chip. (i opted to use two small micro test clips rather than soldering leads directly on the chip.) total cost: $1.62 + 2 inches of 22 gauge wire. i'd like to do the same for an AT, but am *presuming* there is no 8284 chip. (hmmm...an 80284? :-) does anyone know of a way of performing the same surgery on an AT? i'll be happy to post the responses... -- michael regoli regoli@silver.bacs.indiana.edu ...ihnp4!iuvax!silver!regoli regoli@iubacs.BITNET
