[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Minor bug in PKARC

lane@dalcs.UUCP (John Wright/Dr. Pat Lane) (04/14/88)

With all the discussion of ARC vs. PKARC vs. ZOO, I thought I'd mention a
bug I noticed in PK(X)ARC, albeit a minor one. I archived a set of files,
two of which were zero length. When de-archived, the two empty files
failed the CRC check and were restored as 1024 bytes full of junk.

Other than that, I am totaly impressed with PK(X)ARC. I intend to try out
ZOO one of these days and I think SEA deserves credit (and contributions)
for their efforts which popularized file compression in the MS-DOS world.
For that matter, so do, i suppose, the authors of LQ and SQZ from CP/M.

The P.D./Shareware market is a marketplace like any other. Credit where
credit is due but let the best (wo)man win.
