With all the discussion of ARC vs. PKARC vs. ZOO, I thought I'd mention a bug I noticed in PK(X)ARC, albeit a minor one. I archived a set of files, two of which were zero length. When de-archived, the two empty files failed the CRC check and were restored as 1024 bytes full of junk. Other than that, I am totaly impressed with PK(X)ARC. I intend to try out ZOO one of these days and I think SEA deserves credit (and contributions) for their efforts which popularized file compression in the MS-DOS world. For that matter, so do, i suppose, the authors of LQ and SQZ from CP/M. The P.D./Shareware market is a marketplace like any other. Credit where credit is due but let the best (wo)man win. -- John Wright ////////////////// Phone: 902-424-3805 or 902-424-6527 Post: c/o Dr Pat Lane, Biology Dept, Dalhousie U, Halifax N.S., CANADA B3H-4H8 Cdn/Bitnet: lane@cs.dal.cdn Arpa: lane%dalcs.uucp@uunet.uu.net Uucp: lane@dalcs.uucp or {uunet, watmath, utai, garfield}!dalcs!lane
