All I heard was that he was involved in a serious auto accident, and was replaced on their '81 tour by Vinnie Vincent, who has since been replaced by Mark St. John. I guess either he was unable to play anymore, or just decided it would be a good time to leave the band and keep his anonimity. At one time, I was probably the biggest KISS fan on Earth. I agree without question that the first few KISS albums are by far the best. In fact, their first live album, "KISS-Alive!" was named in a poll in Rolling Stone as being one of the top 10 live rock albums of all time. My copy is so worn that the needle just about sticks out the other side during play - it got some heavy play in its time. BTW, has anyone else ever heard that KISS is an acronym for "Knights In Satan's Service"? I read an interview once where Gene Simmons stated that they origi- nally wanted to name the band F***, but thought better of it. It came down between KISS and Albatross(?). More KISS trivia: The real names of the original members of KISS - Gene Simmons - Gene Klein, former 6th grade English teacher Paul Stanley - Paul Frehley, used to work for some NY magazine Ace Frehley - Stanley Eisen, former NY midtown cabbie Peter Criss - Peter Crisscoula, former bar-band drummer Nothing this band has done in the last 5 years comes close to the first 5 or so albums with the original crew. Mark BTW, whatever happened to Peter Criss??????

Does anyone > know what happened to him since he left the band? ]I've been wondering this myself. All I heard was that he was involved in a ]serious auto accident, and was replaced on their '81 tour by Vinnie Vincent, ]who has since been replaced by Mark St. John. I guess either he was unable to ]play anymore, or just decided it would be a good time to leave the band and ]keep his anonimity. Mark St. John has since been replaced with Bruce Kublick (from Paul's solo album) after Mark had a severe reoccurence of Reiter's syndrome. (a form of arthritis). ]BTW, has anyone else heard that KISS is an acronym for "Knights In Satan's ]Service"? You can thank the National Equirer for that fantastic piece of investigative reporting. Ace, by the way, is making a comeback, with a band know as _Frehley's Comets_ Looks for an album to be released any day now. Sam
