[comp.sys.ibm.pc] DOS vi

skl@van-bc.UUCP (Samuel Lam) (04/17/88)

I tried out the "DOS vi" posted in comp.binaries.ibm.pc, and was
disappointed to found that I can't move the cursor around using
the i, j, k, and m keys, and therefore must move my hand off the
main keyboard to the numeric keypad to use the arrow keys.

Since one of the reasons I like vi is because I can keep my hands
on the main keyboard through out the editing session, I didn't
find this vi too easy to use.

I'll trade you. I have an older version of vi which uses the
h,j,k,l keys (???) instead. I'd rather use the arrow keys.

The recently posted vi was encoded using ZOO. Don't have zoo. Hmmm.
Therefore can someone email me either:

     1) the recently posted vi encoded by arc or pkarc
   or
     2) part 1 of 3 of zoo that was posted a couple of months ago?
           (never reached this site)

  Thanks

Yes, yes, I agree.
Is there any patches to use h,j,k,l keys for cursor motion ?

And I want to use ESC key as same as UNIX vi does.

Thanks in advance.

I had meant "h, j, k, and l" there when I wrote the article, but
somehow I managed to write the wrong letters down.

Thanks to <james@bigtex.UUCP> for pointing it out to me via e-mail.
