I am about to start a large programming project using MS windows (probably not 386). One of the crittical problems we need to have in this program is that we need to receive data at 9600 baud un-paced (no X-ON/OFF or ACKS allowed) and at the same time stash this data on disk. I have done this small mirecle before but without windows and by writting a 8250 device driver that would "block" incomming data in forground (interrupt state). Now, the question, what resources does windows have for the communication line, more specifically, does windows have a smart enough driver to handle the com port or will I need to write my own? How would windows multi tasking help/hinder us. Please E-MAIL responses and I will summerize. -- Wayne Johnson (voice) 612-638-7665 NCR Comten, Inc.
