I just recently started using an EGA card (Quadram EGA+) in monochrome mode. (I'd had the card for some time, borrowing an EGA monitor whenever I needed one - I just sold my AT and replaced it with a 386, and the IBM mono card went with it. I'm still too cheap to buy an EGA monitor...) I've found that a few programs (but really very few) get confused, and insist on setting colors or some-such. The result is usually a big black (or white) square where a menu should be, and if I'm lucky, a little bit of the text (usually the most useless part...) visible. The sad thing is that the only programs I've found that do this are setup or utility programs that have no business getting so fancy to start with. (One is a old version of Tecmar's tape backup software - they're sending me an update that has an explicit monochrome option. The other is Chips & Technology's setup program for their 386 chip set.) Does anyone know of a work-around for this? -- jtara%m-net@umix.cc.umich.edu ihnp4!dwon!m-net!jtara "If this is all a dream, I can't wait to see what it's like when I wake up." - Explorers
