[net.general] everyone EXCEPT Mark Horton read this

chuqui@nsc.UUCP (Chuqui Q. Koala) (01/20/85)

Reading the latest CACM (communications of the ACM) I noticed that they
were looking for nominations for some of their annual awards. A sudden
thought came to mind, and I would like to put this in front of the usenet
readership in general:

One of the awards looking for nominations is the Grace Murray Hopper Award.
This is awarded to "the outstanding young computer professional of the
year... selected on that basis of a single recent major technical or
service contribution". Considering the amount of work that Mark puts into
keeping Usenet humming, and the amount of benefit a large percentage of
computer users nationwide get from Usenet I feel that Mark deserves a
nomination for the Grace Hopper award. If you agree with me (or disagree
with me, for that matter) let me know-- if there is support for this I will
put together the nomination and forward all supporting letters with it.
