<<There are no quotes in this news item.>> [N.B. -- I realize that this item may be posted to "inappropriate" newsgroups, but I wanted to target this item to folks who would be both interested and likely to respond. Follow-ups to this item will be posted in net.misc.] Well, folks ... there has been discussion in the past about a net.men or a net.men.only ... There have been arguments in favor of it and against it. What I propose is: (a drumroll, please) .... A MAILING LIST ABOUT MEN ... I suppose this means that I will moderate it ... it is open for participation to both men and women; topics of discussion will include things like: why men feel emotionally inhibited, why do men not always express the way they feel, why they are angry to be a male today, and other pertinent issues (including "why doesn't my jockstrap fit the way it did eight years ago?") Items which are sent to me for posting to the mailing list will be distributed to the mailing list members in digest format. I will not edit postings; I will just be a central place to redistribute postings. I will, however, *not* post items of the sort where the membership of the mailing list are called "a bunch of assholes," "sissies," "wimps," etc. This sort of bogusness will *not* be tolerated. Those of you who *are* interested in the mailing list are asked to: 1) MAIL to me (*not* post to the net) your path ... I can figure out how to get to most anywhere, I think, if you provide a path relative to the generally-accepted backbone sites ... 2) Send an introduction-sort of piece which tells the members of the mailing list about yourself, and why you want to be on the mailing list <i.e., what has motivated you to act on this posting ... > 3) Send a listing of items which you would like to see discussed among the members of the mailing list ... 4) Finally, a bit of original discussion on one of the topics which you have listed from #3 above will be appreciated. I hope that this will get the men's mailing list off to a grand start ... Follow-ups to this article will be posted to net.misc; if you follow-up this item, you might want to start reading net.misc to see what's going on with the discussion ... -- ------------------------------------------------------------------- Henry C.
