Hello. I recently started a new job which requires me to work with the TeX typesetting system. I am using it on a VAX 85xx, and the output goes to an LN03 laser printer. I am thoroughly enchanted with the system, and I think that it would an excellent system to produce copy for two newspapers which I am involved with. Can anyone tell me if there is a TeX package available for IBM/clone PC/AT/386 machines? Additionally, are there any PC/AT/386 compatible laser printers that can take full advantage of the qaulity of typesetting that TeX is able to produce? Thanks. \vfill\eject % :') \end

There are 2 PC-based TeX packages that I know of: PC-TeX, from Personal TeX, Inc., and MicroTeX, from Addison-Wesley. Here are the addresses and phones (as best I can determine...) Personal TeX, Inc. 12 Madrona Ave. Mill Valley, CA 94941 (415) 388-8865 Addison-Wesley Publishing Co. Reading, MA 01867 (617)944-3700 'Round here, we use PC-TeX. As far as I can tell, it's a full version of TeX. One nice thing about Personal TeX, Inc. is that they carry various products from other suppliers, such as previewers (from two companies) and printer drivers (from several companies). This means their catalog gives you lots to choose from. Chris Smith Center for Astrophysics BITNET: rcs@cfa2
